Mini Easter Bunting Sewing Tutorial

To match my 'Pretty Colourful Easter' I picked a lovely bunch of printed fabrics from Elephant in my . Which I have been showing you over the past couple of days...

So what did I use all the prints in? Some adorable bunting of course! I am planning on hanging it above my Easter table but I think it would look pretty cute outside for the egg hunt!

Here's my Mini Easter Bunting Sewing Tutorial ...

1 Bunting

How-to step by step

  • Mini bunting tutorial 1

    Step 1

Start by downloading the template, print and cut out. Using a water-soluble marker or a dressmaker's pencil, transfer the bunting template to the wrong side of the printed fabric.

    Step 2

Lay your two triangle shapes right sides together and pin to secure in place

  • Mini bunting tutorial 3

    Step 3

Sew along the two long sides of the triangle shapes, using a 5mm seam allowance. You can do this in one go by pivoting the needle at the end of the first line

  • Mini bunting tutorial 4

    Step 4

Trim off any excess fabric near the tip of the triangle.

  • Mini bunting tutorial 5

    Step 5

Turn your fabric right side out, and use a pointed tool to push into the very tip of the fabric (I used a chop stick).

  • Mini bunting tutorial 6

    Step 6

Iron your bunting nice and flat. Trim off any excess threads, and the tiny points of fabric sticking up.

  • Mini bunting tutorial 7

    Step 7

Continue sewing as many triangles as you need, then pin triangles into the bias binding leaving a “tail” of bias tape your desired length at each end.

  • Mini bunting tutorial 8

    Step 8

Start by sewing along bias tape, sewing closed the fold of the bias tape. Continue sewing along the bias tape, sewing the triangles in place.
