Happy Mother's Day!
My Mum has always been supportive of my creativity and has taught me a lot of what I know from how to ice cakes to how to make professional looking curtains. So when my parents moved into their new home several years ago I was delighted when my Mum asked me to help her build the craft room of her dreams, her first craft room!
My Mum now has a lovely craft room with Lori duck egg blue curtains from Laura Ashley but I noticed how she always used her ironing board in the craft room but when it wasn't in use it was kept elsewhere. So this past Christmas I made her a new ironing board cover in the Lori duck egg blue fabric using the tutorial from my book 'Torie Jayne's Stylish Home Sewing'. My Mum loved it and now keeps her ironing board on display in her craft room. Which got me thinking what else I could make to match her craft room, when I noticed a couple of plastic bags filled with current projects. Aha! I could make her a matching Craft Organizer Bag that she could hang on the back of her craft room door. A place to put her current projects along with a set of handy pockets on the front and sides for craft tools storage.
As I was sketching up ideas the lovely peeps at Vilene asked me if I wanted to try their new style-vis, a smooth, foamed lightweight fabric for sew-in application. Which combines excellent stabilization and cushioning with a very soft hand feel. I jumped at the chance and used it in my Craft Organizer Bag. I love how it makes the bag stand upright and gives it a lovely soft hand feel.
