Pink Rickrack Ribbon
I love Rickrack as a trimming, it reminds me of being a kid in the late 70's...
Rickrack is a "flat narrow braid woven in zigzag form, used as a trimming for clothing or craft projects. It was originally called "Waved Crochet Braid" in the 1860s.
Made of cotton or polyester, rickrack is stitched or glued to the edges of an item. Rickrack's popularity peaked in the 1970s and is associated with the Little House on the Prairie and the pioneer sentiment brought about by the 1976 American bicentennial.
Whenever I see it in my favourite colours I just have to buy a bunch even if I don't have a project in mind! I bought metres and metres of this pink rickrack on a work trip to the Hong Kong trim market.
You can find it in all good haberdasheries, eBay and Etsy.
