On Thursday evening I attended the Juliet Sear's Masterclass @ the Dr. Oetker Even Better Baking Boutique with my younger sister...
Home baking brand Dr Oetker opened it's Even Better Baking Boutique last Friday (7 November) to encourage the British public to improve their baking skills. Located at Dray Walk in East London near Brick Lane in London, the interactive space will host a range of free, kitchen-based experiences including demonstrations, product showcases, taste testing and masterclasses.
The night before they hosted a press masterclass with cookery author and Even Better Baking ambassador Juliet Sear. Juliet Sear is one of the UK's leading cake designers and runs successful contemporary cake boutique 'Fancy Nancy'.
We were greeted at the door with a glass of champagne and canapes, shelves stocked with Dr Oetker baking goodies and a variety of baked goods using said Dr Oetker products. It was so nice to see the whole Dr Oetker baking range in one place and I definitely have my eye on a few products I haven't tried before like the lemon meringue and banoffee sprinkles. After a brief mingling we headed up to the cake decorating table and met the delightful Juliet who shared her insider hints and tips on perfecting tricky techniques, covered the art of perfect piping, simplifying sugar roses and Christmas-themed modelling. Then the real fun started!
We were each given three cupcakes to decorate and perfect the techniques Juliet had shared with us. I went for making a sugar rose, covering a cupcake with ready to roll icing and piping lines on it. I ran out of time for my last cupcake so went for a swirly pipe of vanilla cupcake covered in pretty sprinkles. My sister opted for perfecting the art of sugar roses and making the cutest pig!
A big Thank you to Dr Oetker for such a fun evening, if you get a chance I would highly recommend visiting the Dr. Oetker Even Better Baking Boutique and signing up for one of their free classes!
The Dr. Oetker Even Better Baking Boutique is open from 7th -16th November.
April Carter, author of Top of the Cake Pops, will hold the floor on 13 November at Cake Pop Night. Here, guests will be able to try their hand at creating cake pops while enjoying a 1980s-themed music DJ set.
Other events taking place include Chocolate Emporium, Winter Wonder Bakes and Beautiful Baking Trends. Visitors to the pop-up will also be able to purchase Dr Oetker’s products and take home a free goodie bag after each class.
