Waterproof Lined Drawstring Backpack Sewing Tutorial

Last year my elder sister was telling me how much her boys loved their Peter Rabbit drawstring bags I made for them when they came to stay in the Country a couple of years back and how they use them all the time for when they go swimming. Which got me thinking that I should make my eldest nephew a new larger one with a waterproof lining for Christmas. I chose a beach hut canvas for the outer as my nephews spend their Summers on the Isle of Wight with Nanny and Grandpa hanging out at the family beach hut. To make Samuels new bag perfect for swimming and the beach I lined it with a washable waterproof fabric and added a easy to carry handle at the top. For extra extra durability and design aesthetics I also added some oilcloth tabs on the corners. I used some scraps of red and white star oilcloth I had left from the aprons.
