Back in February when I was visiting the Craft Show in Birmingham I fell in love with the cross stitch lampshades on display at the Rico stand. A fabulous German crating brand that had loads of on trend cool ideas.
The lovely peeps at Rico offered to send me some craft supplies to share with you so of course top of my list was the embroidery board and lampshade kit...
To match the honeybee artwork that used to hang in my guest room but now hangs in my summer house, I wanted to design a honeybee cross stitch pattern. I started by plotting out the dot pattern on Adobe Illustrator so I knew how many holes in the card I had to play with. Alot of designing and adjusting went on, but eventually it worked out perfectly and I could fit three honey bees round the sides. Following the pattern on my screen I started to cross stitch my honeybees, opting for each cross stitch honeybee to be in different shades of lilac, lavender and mauve with duck egg blue wings. To add a pop of brighter turquoise I cross stitched a border at the top and bottom which I also used to attach the wire.
It now hangs in my Summer house...
