Real Christmas Tree delivered to my door

A few weeks back I was contacted by the lovely peeps at Creekside Christmas, purveyors of real Christmas trees, delivered to your door. Asking If I would like to review one of their real Christmas trees of my choice...

Since leaving home many moons ago I have never had a real Christmas tree, the first years I spent in New York there just simply wasn't room for anything bigger than a mini tabletop tree. When I moved back to England we bought our first home, a 1930's flat on the third floor with no lift and as the cause of my sneezing had not yet been diagnosed we stayed clear of fresh trees and spent a small fortune on an artificial tree. I used that Christmas tree for many years until a couple of years ago when I bought a white artificial Christmas tree that I used until now.

This year I wanted to use a green tree so that my peach and mint Christmas would be grounded and not look to candy sweet. I loved the idea of a real tree, it seemed fitting for our new house in the country and I imagined the smell would be lovely. So I of course said yes to Creekside Christmas and chose the Large Nordmann Fir and a stand. The tree arrived at the beginning of December as requested and as I wasn't quite ready to start decorating it I followed Creekside Christmas' guide and left it outside till a couple of days before I was ready to decorate it. I then placed it in the garage so that I could spray paint the red bucket gold.

Leaving it still wrapped in it's netting, I placed a towel round the base of the tree so that I didn't get it covered in spray paint and sprayed the bucket using Plastikote's brilliant metallic gold spray paint. Leaving it in the garage over night so the spray paint could dry.

I brought it into my dining room and placed it in the corner next to a turned off radiator, (Direct heat will dry out your tree much faster, so be careful not to place it near any radiators or fires.) Added more water to the bucket, (you need to add a litre of water a day) grabbed some scissors and expectantly cut the netting away from the tree. Wow! what a beautiful tree, such a classic shape with dark green glossy needles and a gorgeous fresh clean smell. I of course was so delighted with my new real Nordmann Fir tree that I couldn't wait to start decorating it!

So a big thank you to Creekside Christmas for sending me a big beautiful Christmas tree without the hassle of trying to fit it in my small car...
