Christy is a UK based brand known for it's high quality towels and bed linen. A manufacturer of household linens and well known as the inventor of the first industrially produced looped cotton towel. It was founded in 1850 by Henry Christy and his brother Richard Christy. In 1851, the first terry towel was in production and was shown at the Great Exhibition. Her Majesty, Queen Victoria was presented with a set of these, she immediately ordered more and from then on, demand for towels was high. In 1987 Christy became the official Wimbledon Championships tennis supplier. In 2003 they launched their first bed linen range which boasted high thread counts, intricate embroidery and beautifully woven designs in a combination of classic and contemporary styling. Today they produce lovely collections of towels and bed linen all of which are made to a very high standard.
